Should you worry about middle back pain?

Middle back pain is not as common as neck pain or pain in the lower back. So people tend to worry about it more quickly.

It is often just a case of muscular pain. A day of hard work around the house or in the garden when you are not used to it can leave you with a painful back the next day.

In that case a good rest is usually enough. Some gentle stretching will help get the stifness out.

It is more serious if the mid back pain is the result of a fall or accident. Or if the pain is sharp after certain movements. There can also be a numb feeling in a hand or leg.

These may be signs of a pinched nerve or some damage to the spine.

In that case it is best to go and see a doctor as soon as possible.
