Dealing with Acid Reflux and Chest Pain

If you or someone you know has acid reflux, you know about the chest pains that come with it. Acid reflux and chest pain go hand in hand. The first few times that chest pain occurs because of the acid reflux, you may think you are having a heart attack. Those who are really having a heart attack and have had acid reflux think that it is just from the acid and do not get the medical help they need.

Acid Reflux With or Without Chest Pain

Doctors have come to the conclusion that acid reflux sufferers who have chest pain and those who do not have chest pain are no different from one another. The acid levels (levels of aggravation) are totally the same. The treatment is the same for both of these patients.

With acid reflux and chest pains that come with it, you have a very dangerous combination if it the condition is left untreated or is ignored. The acid from the stomach will group in the esophagus or alimentary canal. If you do not treat the acid and get it neutralized, it can damage the esophagus lining and also go so far as to cause bleeding ulcers. These ulcers are even more painful than the acid reflux is. Your doctor will need to watch your acid levels in your stomach and also the angle at which the esophagus lies before and into the treatment.
