Aerobic Activity for Kids

Children have a different lifestyle in this day and age. Basically they like to do so many more things indoors than ever before. This is the downside of LCD televisions, laptop computers, Ipods, high-tech video games and other modern toys. While TVs and video games were certainly around when I was a child in the 80s, my father forced us out the door to play outside. This was a good thing in retrospect. And to be completely honest, we loved it! This is probably the best source of exercise for children. Simply allow them to run around and frolic with their peers outdoors.

How much exercise do you suppose your child receives on a daily basis? What is his/her routine after school and during the summer months? You see, herein lies the dilemma. If you allow your children to lounge about indoors all the time, they are likely to become overweight. This is something you don’t want! Imagine how fast that weight can add up. If your little one doesn’t engage in the right exercise for children, he/she may definitely end up overweight by the time high school hits.

Not to mention adulthood. It’s your responsibility as a parent to ensure this doesn’t happen. If by some chance your child frowns at playing outdoors with friends or even alone, you might want to consider indoor exercise for children. There are infinite regimens that can be taken advantage of. Work out with your child! Try various calisthenics such as push-ups, sit-ups, crunches, jumping jacks, jump rope, and stretching. And if you’re looking for a back-up plan, there’s always swimming. This is a wonderful exercise for children and adults alike.

3 Simple Steps to Wellness

We all know what way we are heading and whether we like it or not we are all going to die at some point. Since the dawn of man (or short thereafter) we have tried to keep death and old age at a distance. An ancient myth talked about the fountain of eternal youth and similar stories have been told time and time again.



Stories about how to keep one from growing old have passed from generation to generation and even today we are spending billions and billions trying to fight it. Some do it by surgery and some try to cover it up with cosmetics. But solutions are only temporary and expensive and I believe that there are better ways to go about it.



I believe that there are a few essential elements to a happy, energetic and perfect life when you are getting closer to your life’s end. Several independent studies have shown these to be true time and time again.



1) Make sure that your body has the best possible building blocks for its cells regeneration which takes place every single day. A cell creates a copy of it self and as we all know it is not possible to create a copy that is better than the original and therefore we need to take extremely good care of your body’s cells. The regeneration of cells is actually the very thing of “growing old”. Each new copy is a little bit less than the previous one and over time we get “older”. Our muscles become weaker, our faces become wrinkled and our organs are not performing at their best.

Therefore it is so critically important that you get good nutrition as soon as possible. Don’t put it out by saying “I’ll start eating healthy tomorrow”. News Flash – Tomorrow Never Comes! For the sake of your own wellbeing you need to start today.


2) You might have guessed it already. Exercise is also a very important part of maintaining your health and vitality which is what keeps the feeling of aging at a distance. I’m not talking extensive exercise where you run marathons or swim for miles and miles. Most people think that it requires a lot of time an effort to do the exercise but in reality that is just a bad excuse. The only thing is takes is consistency and 15-30 minutes a day. Go for a 30 minute walk around the block or run in the park for just 15 minutes. You don’t even have to do it full speed. The trick is to do it daily.

If you haven’t exercised for years then don’t worry. Start with 5 minutes a day and slowly increase. Just 5 minutes a day and EVERY DAY will do wonders for your health if you haven’t done any exercise for years.


3) Final step of the three step process is to enjoy life and have gratitude. Be grateful for what you already have and start focusing on it consistently. By shifting your focus from what you don’t have to the things that you already enjoy will give you an immense amount of energy and a state of happiness.

Have a look at the old folks that are always smiling. What do you thing they do on a daily basis? Do you think they focus on the things in the past that didn’t work or are they grateful for the life they have lived and the life that they are still living? Studies have shown that the people that get to live the longest are people that have been happy on an ongoing basis. They enjoy life and therefore they aren’t letting it go that easily so to speak.



Follow these three steps and you will experience a change in energy, emotion and daily happiness. You will keep the aging process at a much slower pace and you will live a life filled with all the good things that a life should have.

Universal is a great word, implying grand expansive all encompassing qualities even before we see the item promoted. Webster says “including or covering all or a whole without limit or exception.” Now, we’ve seen how marketing and promotion add tags or keywords like universal to products like home gyms. But are they really universal? Of course not, but you knew that already. Truth in advertising must mean something else then.

What are the implied universal qualities when associated with home gyms? Offers vary but range somewhere between a whole experience, strength and abundant strength pulsating through the whole body. Yeah, I’ll sign up! Sorry, no sign up is available, but for $19.95 a month in a hundred twenty-five easy payments this universal home gym can be all yours.

I am not being overly sarcastic here. Implied images and results should be what a reasonable average human being can muster with basic expectations of price vs. value.

Ways to Ease Pain While Aging

As we get older, especially over 50, we are finding they are experiencing more aches and pains than when they were younger. It takes longer to recover from physical exercise, heal after an injury, or recover from a serious illness. I personally can exercise every day as my recovery time only allows me to exercise every other day, otherwise I hurt all the time. Pain management is becoming a priority for those who are in the middle age years. You may be experiencing symptoms of arthritis, or other chronic pain. Your health care provider is required to ask patients about pain levels and the intensity of their pain and then treatment is determined with feedback from the patient.

Pain is more than just an uncomfortable feeling or sensation in your body. Pain will keep you from healing properly after surgery and have a huge impact on your quality of life. Managing pain is important if you want to preserve a good quality of life. The patient has to be very active in their pain management and help decide on the course of treatment for the pain management.
